Familiarity with teacher education accreditation standards;
History of supervising field experiences;
Experience teaching bilingual and ESL education;
Evidence of service to departmental, college, and university committees;
Participation in professional organizations at local and national/international levels;
Evidence of collaboration with faculty in other programs across the campus;
Evidence of purposeful university outreach and productive relationships with community members and community organizations
Record of scholarly productivity and evidence of emerging research agenda;
Demonstrated record of or potential for teaching excellence at the university level;
Experience teaching in multiple modalities (online and/or hybrid). Teaching day and evening at the main campus and at The Woodlands is required.
Strong working knowledge of bilingual and ESL research methodologies; and
Ability to build productive professional relationships with public schools, colleges, and local communities
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching a range of courses in bilingual education and English as a Second Language. This individual must embrace the opportunity to make a positive impact on the community through high-quality, integrated teaching, scholarship, and service in keeping with the motto and mission of Sam Houston State University. Contribute to the Bilingual/ESL program as a collaborative member of the program area; collaborate with nationally and internationally recognized faculty in research and program development; continue the program’s history of having a positive impact on a state, regional, national, and international level; act as content expert and liaison in the area of bilingual and ESL education and demonstrate a commitment to diversity and social justice.
