This entry-level position will work as part of a BUMC Student Financial Services (SFS) team supporting the schools of Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Public Health in efforts to help achieve the University goals for recruitment and retention. This position will assist students and their families in navigating the forms, terminology and deadlines associated with applying for and receiving financial aid. This position will also act as an administrative assistant for SFS by maintaining inventory of all general office supplies, resolving appropriateness of requests for purchases of goods and services, and oversight of all expenditures within the department. This position will coordinate timely communications to students regarding financial aid award notifications.
Provides advice and counsel about available financial aid opportunities, eligibility requirements and the application process to students and parents
Serves as the front line to handle on demand/walk-in student aid advising
Reviews financial aid related documents for accuracy
Responsible for sending all electronic financial aid notifications
Assists in leading the office budget and related requests
Serve as primary liaison for all vendors
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

A bachelors degree and 1-2 years of experience in a service and detail-oriented position are required for consideration
Solid understanding of federal and state financial aid regulations is helpful
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate: strong analytical and organizational skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work optimally with a wide range of diverse constituents; the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; knowledge of customer service standards and procedures; ability to analyze and tackle problems, and; the ability to present informative programs, workshops and/or orientations
