The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join the team as Director of Outreach and Engagement. OAR, in collaboration with the Tufts University Alumni Association, strives to build lifelong relationships with the students and alumni of Tufts University with the goal of keeping alumni actively engaged and contributing to the university. This is accomplished through extensive programming initiatives throughout the United States and around the world, catering to a variety of alumni needs and interests.
The Director of Outreach and Engagement will be an integral member of OAR's senior leadership team, overseeing class reunion programs and student and young alumni engagement efforts. The director will lead and mentor staff in these areas and collaborate with other teams in the office to advance alumni engagement more broadly. The director will also work collaboratively with the Tufts Annual Giving and major gift teams to ensure class fundraising messaging and goals are supported, and to identify, cultivate, and steward prospects and donors. Other key responsibilities include working collaboratively with the Division of Student Affairs and various deans. The director will manage major campus events, including Alumni Weekends and Homecoming.
A Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years' experience
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel
Experience managing or mentoring staff
Extensive depth and breadth of knowledge and experience in alumni relations or related experience
Advanced interpersonal and relationship building skills
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
Demonstrated track record of developing and executing alumni events & programs or similar experience
Willing to travel domestically and internationally; willingness to work weekends and evening hours. Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally. Must be physically able to lift 50+ pounds in setting up events and venues.
Experience running and executing major concurrent university events.
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all levels on university staff: executive level through unionized staff.
