Student Recruitment Specialist & Advisor: State role title is Education Support Specialist III, pay band four. Position #00088. Full-time position with fringe benefits. Minimum starting salary is $35,278. This position will extensively recruit prospective, assist them in the enrollment process, and will coordinate the student activities program. The Student Recruitment Specialist & Advisor will focus on the recruitment and advising of post traditional students who are eligible for the G3 initiative. In order to best serve the students, the primary working hours will be 10:30 am-7:00 pm Monday thru Friday with occasional weekends. This position will require extensive travel within the service region. Responsibilities: •Identifying and recruiting prospective students •Coordinating the student activities program to include developing and planning academic and professional events to promote the growth and well-being of the student population •Assisting students with developing appropriate and realistic academic plans, course selections, and monitoring academic progress •Maintaining knowledge in programs offered, understanding admissions policies & procedures and utilizing recruitment databases in the recruitment process •Participating in virtual and in-person recruitment activities and community events requiring extensive travel within the service region •Coordinating campus visits for individuals or groups •Coordinating the flow of communication between VHCC and prospective students, including but not limited to follow-up with prospective students who have initiated a VHCC and/or a FAFSA application •Implementing the recruitment plan and maintaining the recruitment calendar •Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college •Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or VP of Instruction and Student Services
•Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelorâ™s degree in a related field •Demonstrated understanding of the needs of at-risk students and commitment to the mission of a community college •Willingness to work a flexible schedule to represent the college including evenings and weekends •Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college •Ability to maintain a high level of ethics, professionalism and confidentiality in performance of all duties •Strong written and oral communication skills •Strong interpersonal skills •Strong analytical, organizational and time-management skills •Ability to work independently and/or with a team •Proficient in Microsoft Office (or similar) software programs including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and web applications •Comprehensive counseling skills to support students through the application and enrollment process •Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures with high level of independence
