ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS 1. Teach Veterinary Technology courses as scheduled with a minimum of 9 contact hrs per semester/18 contact hrs per academic year. 2. Facilitate the AVMA accreditation standards & update the guidelines as provided by the CVTEA. 3. Synchronize the faculty & staff to assist with the preparation of the AVMA biannual reports, self-study documents, & site visits. 4. Conduct all operations in accordance with the USDAIACUC care & use of animals procedures & hold bi-annual IACUC meetings. 5. Maintain all NJVMA/DEA licensures & all requirements for such licensures. 6. Perform surgical & associated procedures as necessitated by course offerings. 7. When conducting classes: a.Conduct classes as scheduled. b.Process & post grades as scheduled in the academic year. c.Start class on time & conduct class for the fully scheduled time period. d.Provide students with a written statement of course requirements & expectations that shall include the attendance & grading policy, course objectives, & a course outline. e.Retain all credit course documentation for a period of not less than three (3) years upon the completion of the course. f.Observe the approved Departmental Master Syllabi. 8. Prepare master schedule of all Veterinary Technician classes including meeting times, days of the week, location, duration, & instructors. 9. Coordinate the clinical classes of the Veterinary Technology Program & the relationships between clinical affiliates. 10. Assist in the coordination of the accreditation by preparing bi-annual reports & inspection documents. 11. Assist in program evaluation & review by conducting departmental meetings with the faculty, staff & adjunct faculty. 12. Coordinate the activities of a program advisory board by meeting twice yearly to discuss Veterinary Technology issues. 13. Serve as a liaison between the Veterinary Technology program, the college community, & the veterinary community. 14. Assist in the coordination of all purchase order requisitions, textbook orders & budgetary submissions. 15. Participate in the coordination of scholarship donations for the Veterinary Technology students. 16. Recommend hiring of part-time staff, adjunct faculty, & staff members. 17. Assist in the evaluation of adjunct faculty & staff members by conducting in-person evaluations as scheduled. 18. Correlate animal procurement & daily care with the departmental technician. 19. Assist in the coordination of Continuing Education Programs in Veterinary Technology. 20. Assist in the development, revision & evaluation of new and existing courses in Veterinary Technology. 21. Oversee, supervise & maintain clinical internship affiliations including physical inspection, personal contact with veterinarians & office staff. 22. Oversee the students in their clinical co-op/externship by inspecting facilities & maintaining contact with the students throughout their required 300 hours. If this oversight occurs outside of the normal work day, pay will be at the overload rate for special administrative projects. 23. Maintain student records such as progress sheets, student files, graduation packets, AVMA task sheets, etc. 24. Initiate & participate in student recruitment & retention activities by meeting with currently enrolled & new students during academic advisement periods and the summer. 25. Provide academic support at registration periods during the academic year, throughout the summer & open houses. 26. Participate in job placement of students & coordinate student activity at affiliated clinical sites 27. Participate in college committees, commencement, & academic awards ceremonies as necessary. 28. Attend all federally or NJ State mandated training to include, but not limited to, right-To-Know and Blood Borne Pathogens. 29. Comply with all safety, fire & smoking regulations. Complete all mandatory compliance & safety training.
1.Veterinary Medical Degree (DVM or VMD) 2.Licensed in the State of New Jersey 3.Five years of experience as a licensed veterinarian 4.Teaching experience at the college level 5.Basic knowledge of USDAIACUC standards of care 6.Administrative experience.
