USC Clinical Trial Office (CTO) is seeking a Contract Officer. The Contract Officer is responsible for the accurate and comprehensive pre-and post-award administration of clinical trials generated by assigned department(s). The Contract Officer shall serve as a subject matter expert in the administration of the Industry confidentiality agreements, work orders under Master contracts, subsite agreements, amendments and other administrative duties as assigned by the contract manager relating to the conduct of clinical trials. The candidate must be familiar with regulations governing clinical trials. Major responsibilities include patient, informed and helpful assistance for Principal Investigators (PIâs) and staff in preparation, submission, and management of research projects, and interpretation of funding agency regulation and procedure to ensure that PIâs under their responsibility are given timely notice of requirements. Professional abilities are utilized in budget, contract, and agreement development and negotiation to cover PI and institutional costs. The Contract Officer knows and follows institutional and departmental policies and procedures, and guides PIs and staff on policy as they apply to research administration. Must be able to work in a fast paced, high volume environment with frequent interruptions. This position requires the analytical abilities to identify and review problem situations, make independent decisions and/or recommend solutions. Must be able to communicate to individuals at varying levels effectively verbally and in writing. A high degree of accuracy is mandatory when negotiating contractual terms. Must be able to manage an unpredictable and voluminous workload while providing quality service and meet deadlines through organization, interpersonal skills, and by accurate prioritization of activities. The candidate must possess the ability to effectively work with a team.
