Disability Services & Programs (DSP) is the USC department responsible for providing support and accommodations for students with disabilities. We serve undergraduate, graduate and professional students, as well as on-ground and on-line students in all programs of study.Â DSP is part of the Division of Student Affairs, and while we are a separate department from other support, advocacy, and counseling departments, we work closely with these and other resources on campus to best support student needs.
The role of Testing Aide has several essential requirements:
Effectively work in a busy environment with many interruptions and shifting priorities
Possess strong oral and written communication skills
Effective communication skills and ability to act in a professional manner with students, faculty, administration, and staff
Ability to maintain appropriate professional behavior in dealing with faculty, administration, staff and students. Professional judgement and appropriate action regarding confidential information, disability etiquette, students in distress, and issues of academic integrity.Basic understanding of legal and ethical compliance issues within the office
Ability to thoughtfully represent both the concerns of the students we serve, as well as the concerns of the department, division and University. Ability to work effectively with the diversity of the USC Community, particularly to individuals with disabilities, both apparent and non-apparent
Ability to work in an environment with fluctuating demands and intensity, and peak busy times (i.e. midterms and finals).Working during these busy times is an essential function of the role
Promptness and reliability with work schedule/proctoring assignments.
Responsible for proctoring individual and group exams to insure academic integrity at DSP and alternative locations around campus
Serve as a reader or scribe for individual students at the Testing Center
Possibly responsible for delivering exams to various campus locations when necessary
Participate in a variety of administrative duties during peak testing seasons, i.e. semester finals. This would include, but not be limited to, typical duties plus the possibility of assisting with student check-in/check-out, and faculty exam pick-up.Â
Schedule & Availability
Accommodated testing occurs between the hours of 8:30am â 5:00pm, with the exception of Finals Week. During Finals, testing occurs between 8:00am â 6:00pm and includes Saturday
On-call; hours per week may vary based on testing center needs
Flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the office, including work shifts during Finals Week
