The purpose of this position is to provide support to the physical, occupational and speech therapy activities of the Rehabilitation Services department. Under the direction and supervision of a licensed therapist or assistant, and in accordance with hospital policies and procedures, the Therapy Aide provides treatment-related and non-treatment related assistance with tasks the patient care team. Treatment-related tasks are related to assisting patients with mobility, preparation for and/or transportation for rehabilitation services, assisting the therapists with treatments. Non-treatment related tasks are related to cleaning and preparation of treatment areas, facilitating communications between the patient, medical and rehabilitation staff including telephone customer service as well as 1:1 verbal customer service, assessing equipment and supplies PAR levels, ordering of linen and supplies, and using a computer to look up necessary information/enter information such as statistics or charges, and other routine departmental or administrative functions. The Therapy Aide recognizes and addresses age-appropriate needs when caring for patients. In addition, the Therapy Aide assists in maintaining the practice environment and equipment/supplies in a clean, orderly condition.
High School graduate or equivalent
Current American Heart Healthcare Provider Certification
Ability to lift 25 lbs, to repeatedly carry equipment weighing more than 5 lbs.
Walk extensively on hard and soft surfaces
Frequent bending and reaching to navigate medical equipment or perform treatment is required
Uses universal precautions to limit potential for exposure to blood or body fluids
Relief employees must be available to work at least four (4) days per pay period as determined according to the Employers needs
Location on campus may also include OHSU's outpatient treatment location
Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
