The department of Animal Science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is seeking applicants for an Agricultural Specialist I. This position serves under the direction of the Dairy Farm Manager and is responsible for the day to day operations of the evening milking shift. They are responsible for milking and parlor function, cow flow, comfort and care. They will ensure cows have adequate bedding and feed, milking is done timely and efficiently. They will assist in calf feeding and care, monitor the growing facilities for animals and ensure the facilities are kept in a safe appropriate manner. This position will be expected to maintain research data integrity, and quality control.
The successful candidate will possess a high level of business acumen and knowledge in Dairy production. Additionally they will act with a high level of integrity and be expected to participate in student engagement and development. Duties also include preventative miniatous schedules, equipment maintenance and repair and scheduling with vendors.
All staff members are expected to interact collegially and maintain the highest standards of integrity and ethics of this full time position.
Example of Duties â¢ Collects, records, and summarizes research data. â¢ Manages and coordinates a set of agricultural resources. â¢ Implements research protocols. â¢ Contributes to experimental design, management, and analysis. â¢ Consults with project leaders on experiments, protocol, and progress. â¢ Monitors and oversees machinery and property maintenance and repair. â¢ Assists with field operations. â¢ Observes, diagnoses, and remedies livestock/crop problems.
