This Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
Providing assessment, evaluation, and treatment of neonates at one of two eight bed Level 2A Special Care Nurseries at St. Luke's or Charlton Memorial Hospitals
Working in collaboration with the neonatal team that include neonatologists, neonatal hospitalists, nurses, and ancillary staff
Providing education to nurses, physicians and other staff as may be appropriate to assure the provision of safe and effective neonatal patient care.
Participating in Pediatric Department meetings, Perinatal Committee meetings, Obstetrics/Gynecology Department meetings and other medical and/or administrative committees at his/her designated site as assigned and appropriate on a routine and/or ad hoc basis.
Working independently rotating between day, night and weekend shifts in the SCN with a backup neonatologist available.
To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Master of Science or Doctorate degree in Nursing from an accredited program/institution
National NNP Certification
Minimum 3-5 years experience as an NNP including Level III experience
Maintain active membership and appropriate privileges on Southcoast's Medical Staff and remain in good standing.
Maintain active membership and appropriate privileges on the Boston Children's Hospital Medical Staff and remain in good standing.
Maintain a current license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and well as current DEA, MSCR, and NRP certification
There is an opportunity for a neonatal nurse practitioner in the southcoast of Massachusetts to work with a group of neonatologists and pediatric hospitalists in one of two 8 bed level 2A Special Care Nurseries (SCN) that are part of the Boston Children's Hospital Neonatal Network. Each hospital has approximately 1500 deliveries per year and 200 SCN admissions yearly. Elective deliveries of infants at 32 weeks and above and provision of care including high flow nasal cannula occur. CPAP and mechanical ventilation are available for stabilization prior to transfer to Level III. A wide variety of medical diagnoses are cared for.
