The Caltech Seismo Lab seeks a Communications Coordinator who will enhance the Seismological Laboratory's science and natural hazard-related outreach to local communities and develop a seamless social media presence. The Coordinator will report to the Director and work closely with the Operations and Fiscal Manager.
Work with the Seismo Lab Social Media Team (made up of faculty, students, and SCSN staff) on content for social media, liaise with Caltech's Social Media Manager, and post (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook) at a regular pace and as dictated by events.
Develop and maintain content for outreach with students and faculty who will present talks and outreach events.
Liaise with the Center for Teaching, Learning and Outreach.
Serve as point of contact for events/talks at local schools, community organizations, etc., and maintain a schedule for talks given by students, faculty, etc.
Coordinate with the Office of Earthquake Programs and conduct tours (for school groups and VIP tours).
Maintain statistics of social media, outreach talks, and tours.
Coordinate with others on developing content for videos and work with contractors creating videos (including social media optimized products).
Work with faculty on describing outreach program for use in faculty-submitted proposals for funding.
