The Division of Rheumatology, Scleroderma Research Lab, is looking for an entry level Research Laboratory Technician. Selected candidate will work as part of a collaborative team in translational scleroderma/fibrosis research. Responsibilities include in vitro cell culture with human and mouse cells, in vivo animal husbandry and experiments, gene and protein expression analyses, flow cytometry, immunocytochemistry, and immunofluorescence microscopy.
Assists with experiments, and assays including collection of data and the preparation of solutions, reagents, and tissue cultures.
Maintain primary human and rodent cell cultures and cell lines for experiments.
Analyze protein expression and cell signaling.
Experience with working with RNA including RNA isolation, qPCR and RNA-seq.
Flow cytometry and cell sorting.
Work with mice including handling and monitoring and small animal procedures.
Collaborate with colleagues, including and supervising/mentoring undergraduate and advanced learners.
Assists with general lab maintenance, management and cleaning.
Bachelor’s degree related to Biological Sciences. Previous experience in rodent handling, cell culture, RNA isolation and qPCR, and western blotting. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with others in a collaborative environment. Proficiency in Prism and MS Office, GraphPad prism, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator etc. Strong writing and communication skills.
Associate: Up to one year of experience required
Intermediate: 1-3 years of experience required
