Position Description:

The Department of Nursing at Vanguard University of Southern California invites applications for one full-time faculty position beginning Fall 2021. The desired applicant is a visionary nursing faculty who is enthusiastic about creating and building an outstanding program of learning for a new pre-licensure program. Specialty areas include Community Health, Obstetrics, Pediatrics, and/or the desire to remediate in a new specialty area. Faculty functions under the supervision of the director (chair) and assistant director. Faculty are responsible for individual scholarship (e.g., independent research), university service, community service, and an appropriate teaching load. The pre-licensure program is currently approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) and is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).  The RN to BSN and MSN programs are accredited by CCNE.

Essential Functions:

• Instruct courses in areas of content expertise (as approved by the BRN). At least one year of continuous, full-time experience in direct patient care practice as a registered nurse within the last five years is required.
• Maintain regularly scheduled weekly office hours during the academic school year to advise and mentor students.
• Support and participate in nursing and university student recruitment and advisement activities.
• Provide leadership in coordinating classes and clinical rotations.
• Utilize a variety of teaching methods to accommodate the varying learning styles of the students.
• Serve as a liaison to relevant community organizations and clinical partners. Maintain collegial and collaborative relationships with clinical partners.
• Participate in professional, community activities, and continuing education offerings to ensure community involvement and engagement in lifelong learning activities.
• Experience in using a learning management system to augment instruction.
• Establish, model, and maintain an atmosphere of professional nursing behaviors in the classroom and clinical labs.
• Collaborate with nursing faculty in the coordination and regular evaluation of the effectiveness of student learning outcomes.
• A vibrant Christian faith and commitment to academically rigorous integration of faith and learning.
• Other duties as assigned.
