The New School is seeking a temporary part-time (20 hours/week) Physician to provide outpatient care for the New School student community. The temporary Physician reports to the Director of Medical Services in Student Health Services and provides medical services to a diverse campus population of 10,000 students, including primary care, urgent care, family planning, chronic illness, and referrals.

Note: This position begins March 30, 2020 and ends May 29, 2020. The hourly rate is $95.60. Benefits are not included.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities: ●Provides primary care for a diverse population of New School undergraduate and graduate students. ●Evaluates and treats urgent concerns. ●Provides routine and urgent GYN care and family planning. ●Provides transgender health care including hormone therapy. ●Manages chronic illness within the limits of the Student Health Services operation. ●Provides physical assessment to students for various needs. ●Provides referrals to Counseling Services, specialists and hospital facilities as appropriate. ●Orders x-rays, scans, and other imaging as appropriate. ●Participates in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and peer review ●Maintains appropriate and timely medical record documentation. ●Provides clinical supervision of physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses as appropriate. ●Collaborates with Director of Medical Services on quality improvement initiatives, best clinical practices and laboratory interface oversight. ●Supports training of medical, physician assistant and/or nurse practitioner students as needed. ●Participates in staff, Student Health Services, and Student Success meetings. ●Other administrative duties and clinical responsibilities as assigned.
●Board certification and New York State licensure as a family practice physician or internist ●Outstanding clinical, technical, and interpersonal skills ●Three years of clinical experience or equivalent ●Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification (BCL) ●Infection control certificate ●Demonstrated proficiency in electronic medical records and the use of a patient portal ●Multicultural competence and a demonstrated commitment to diversity in all forms
●Demonstrated experience in college health, adolescent medicine and/or LGBTQ health care preferred ●Experience working with a multidisciplinary team of advanced practice medical providers, nurses and mental health providers ●Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS)
