The College of New Jersey's Office of the Treasurer invites applications for the position of Director of Financial Reporting. This position reports to the Associate Treasurer.
The Office of the Treasurer is responsible for the College's strategic financial planning, including investments and debt management, accounting, budgeting, procurement services, student accounts and payroll. We execute our fiduciary responsibilities by engaging in continuous business process evaluation and improvement and by providing a wide array of customer-centered support services for students, faculty, staff and external constituents.
The Director of Financial Reporting will be responsible for the oversight of the College's financial reporting and capital budgeting and post-award grant administration.
The duties of the position include:
Directing the daily activities of the financial reporting unit, including post-award grant contracts and grant administration.
Responsible for the preparation of College's financial audits, including the audits of two affiliated entities (TCNJ Foundation and TSCC Corporation).
Prepare financial reports accurately and accordance with established guidelines and timeframes.
Supervise the Oracle fixed assets system. This includes the fixed asset reconciliations to the GL and preparing all necessary accounting entries to record write offs, depreciation, additions, adjustments and transfers.
Prepare financial aid award reconciliation with the Financial Aid Office and perform updates to award amounts based on approved changes by the federal and state agencies.
Implement and maintain internal controls protocols for the financial reporting units.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperative working relationships with college administrators in order to accomplish the objectives of the College.
Knowledge and Skills Qualifications:
The successful candidate should possess broad-based experience in the following areas: financial and sponsored-research accounting, Government Accounting Standards (GASB) and financial operations for institutions of higher education or other similar organizations;
Candidates must demonstrate a successful history of collaboratively working with both internal and external constituencies, exemplary verbal and written communications skills.
The ability to prepare clear, concise and effective financial presentations for senior management.
The ability to work independently in a fast-paced and diverse environment.
Staying abreast of the latest GASB accounting standards and documenting the impact on public higher education institutions.
Bachelor's Degree in accounting with at least 3 years experienced directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position, preferably in a higher education setting;
Master's Degree and/or CPA highly preferred.
