Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a motivated Research Teaching Specialist V for the department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Principal Research Associate, the Research Teaching Specialist V provides both substantive and administrative support of their group's research on persons who have a history of illicit drug use. The Research Teaching Specialist V will assist in data collection and analysis, obtaining consent from and interviewing study subjects, coordinating with collaborating drug treatment centers, revising and editing survey instruments, reviewing data, entering data, creating datasets, integrating data from multiple sources, reviewing records, editing manuscripts, maintaining administrative records, and related research and administrative tasks.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Collects or assists in collection of data from participating drug treatment centers, involving on-site activities at those centers and coordination with staff at those centers.
Revises and edits survey instruments in collaboration with the Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator, and other research staff.
Assists with training post-doctoral fellows, medical students and research assistants in data management techniques and other research procedures as directed.
Collaborates with the Principal Investigator, Study Coordinator, and other research staff in designing and writing presentations and in writing and editing manuscripts.
Assists in writing IRB and other research protocols, and monitoring compliance.
Responsible for submitting purchase recommendations to his/her supervisor.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in biology, public health, biomedical science, premedical studies, or a related field.
Prior research experience, especially in epidemiology, public health, or quantitative social science, is an asset.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Excellent quantitative skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, including at a minimum Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of SAS® Software.
Having own auto with current insurance is.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Most work will be done remotely as required by COVID-19 pandemic conditions.
