Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned research and educational institution, is seeking an individual for the position of Cage Washer Technician to uphold strict animal facilities sanitary guidelines and perform daily activities to maintain a clean laboratory environment throughout the facility.
Responsibilities include: - Following detailed instructions from the Animal Facility Manager - Cleaning cages, feeding equipment and animal rooms - Using disinfectant spray and mopping floors and walls - Operating equipment to disinfect/sterilize - Performing cage washer and autoclave quality assurance
Education: High school or equivalent.
Experience: Experience working with or around laboratory animals is preferred.
Physical: Must be able to lift and carry fifty pounds. This position requires standing most of the day.
Environmental: Must feel comfortable working around laboratory animals and in areas with elevated environmental noise levels.
Other requirements: Must have a valid driver’s license; use of personal vehicle required. Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends and holidays.
