Department/Division Introduction

The Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development is an exciting and entrepreneurial office within the College, which offers a wide variety of non-credit classes, training courses, seminars, webinars, and pathways to a degree program for community members and businesses. These offerings are focused on revitalizing careers, upgrading skills and credentials, growing businesses, and pursuing pastimes and passions. Additionally, the HCCC Center for Business & Industry (CBI) is the area leader in developing and delivering educational classes and programs for Hudson County’s businesses, organizations, and individuals. Position Summary/Job Description

Instruct and assist CNA students preparing for the certification exam.

• Instruct CNA students preparing for the certification exam.
• Maintain accurate individual student records as mandated by NJ Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDHSS), including students’ physicals, attendance, skills and written test results.
• Submit applications, schedules and signature forms to NJDHSS in a timely manner.
• Observe and instruct students in the classroom and clinical setting.
• Register and schedule students for skills and written competency examinations.
• Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical sites, staff, skills evaluator and prospective employers.
• Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of resident care.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Candidate must be currently licensed in New Jersey as a registered professional nurse for at least three years and be an approved instructor by the NJ State Department of Health and Senior Services. Possess at least one (1) year of full-time experience or equivalent as a registered professional nurse in a licensed long-term care facility.

Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work with a diverse student population. Must be able to work on mornings and/or evenings. Must have the ability to provide consistent hours on a weekly basis and the flexibility to adjust schedules as needed, including weekends. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to occasionally work independently.
