Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator

Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator to be responsible for leading and coordinating diversity, equity, and inclusion communications, marketing, and engagement efforts throughout various aspects of the Utica College community. The coordinator ensures that engagement occurs via events and activities amongst stakeholders (Students, Faculty and Staff, Alumni and Employers) on and off campus, while leveraging communication strategies, branding, data collection/analytics, web and social media marketing techniques to optimize campus engagement in diversity equity and inclusion initiatives that supports successful achievement of the DE&I Operational Plan in concert with the Utica Colleges Strategic Goals. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Communications and Engagement Coordinator reports directly to VP for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Student Transitions/Chief Diversity Officer and works collaboratively with Executive Director for DE&I/Coordinator for Community Relations, Director for Center for Career and Professional Development as well as, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Project/Program Manager.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Works with external and internal agencies and departments to create and update web content relevant to the Division for DE&I, The DE&I Collaborative, and the Strategic Advisory Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
• Oversees the research, creation, and production of new marketing collateral for DE&I.
• Creates and executes plan to rollout new initiatives, programs, and DEIrelated policies.
• Researches and writes press releases in collaboration with marketing and communications on a wide range of issues in service of the work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, including training initiatives, campus cultural celebrations, and legacy programs.
• Maintains a steady stream of compelling and relevant social media posting, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn.
• Researches and writes the DE&I Annual Report. Researches, writes and posts the quarterly e-newsletter for the Division.
• Works with all program and initiative committees with in the Collaborative to engage the Utica College Community via meaningful and intentional marketing and communication strategies.
• Works with the Bias Response and Referral Network (BRRN) to Coordinate Bias Incidents reporting.
• Works collaboratively with student clubs and organizations, along with the Student Government Association (SGA) and Student, Living, and College Engagement (SLCE)
• Participate and engage in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs at least once per semester, including but not limited to serving on DEI committees, serving as a diversity advocate or community liaison for a job search, advising a club, facilitating DEI-related training, and attendance at DEI programming.
• Coordinates activities and programs with The Center for Career and Professional Development as well as The Center for Student Success, to help connect Utica College students to their goal of persistence to graduation.
• Serves as a Deputy Title IX Coordinator in the event that the College’s Title IX Coordinator requires backup assistance. This will require the incumbent to participate in regular Title IX administrator training to prepare them to take reports of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct from students, faculty or staff and to provide resources and supportive measures to involved parties. This responsibility may occasionally involve Title IX case coordination
• Works with supervisor to develop specific goals that support Utica College’s operational plans. This is done at least annually through the annual performance evaluation process, however review of goals will occur throughout the year.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
