JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, this position performs routine laboratory techniques including qRT-PCR, Western blot analysis, immunohistochemistry, and maintaining mouse colonies (genotyping and perform basic mouse behaviors).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collects, interprets, describes, and documents complex analytical and evaluative research data.
Performs mouse behavioral testing and immunohistochemistry, qPCR, and Western blot analysis.
Conducts surface protein biotinylation, followed by fraction separation and Western blotting on cell cultures and cerebral arteries.
Prepares experimental solutions, grounds, and pipettes for patch-clamp and bilayer recordings.
Conducts simple electrophysiological recordings.
Assists with maintaining mouse colonies (genotyping).
Assists with the expression and purification of viruses.
Performs experiments on the effect of alcohol in rodents.
Maintains lab equipment for experiments, autoclaves laboratory material, cleans glassware/plastic ware, and sanitizes the laboratory.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
