The University of Tennessee's Haslam College of Business invites applications for Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor position(s) with an emphasis in supply chain management (SCM), logistics management, supply chain planning, or a related field. Our globally renowned supply chain group seeks candidates who have the ability to contribute to our teaching mission, as well as in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. This non-tenure track position will reside within the Department of SCM, and the chosen candidate will have responsibility for teaching in both the recently launched online Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MS-SCM) program, as well as in-person courses in our undergraduate and graduate supply chain programs. Our future clinical faculty member will be an integral and fully participating member of our faculty. S/he will report to the Department Head of Supply Chain Management and will also work closely with the Executive Director of the UT Global Supply Chain Institute and other tenured and non-tenured supply chain management faculty in order to collaboratively achieve our department's instructional goals. The successful candidate will be able to teach courses intended for multiple different constituent audiences, including Executive, Non-Degree, and/or traditional undergraduate or graduate degree students as determined by annual needs. Depending upon candidate qualifications, s/he also may assume course or program director responsibilities in the future, and/or serve as a leader in our industry-focused research projects portfolio.
Employment can commence for the summer semester of 2021 (beginning about May 15, 2021) or fall semester of 2021 (beginning about August 10, 2021), and the position(s) will remain open until filled. Compensation will be nationally competitive, and will depend on the chosen candidate's combination of teaching and practical experiences.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
A Ph.D. degree with an emphasis in supply chain management, logistics management, sourcing/supply management, operations management or a related field from an accredited institution
Qualification and experience to be appointed as an Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor
A minimum of 6 years progressively responsible experience within a business or relevant higher education context
A demonstrated record of high-quality and innovative teaching of germane subject matter
A substantial level of familiarity with at least one segment of the supply chain management/logistics/procurement/operations management industry.
Experience with institutions recognized for their expertise in SCM
Knowledge of both the operational and strategic importance of supply chain management in both research and applied settings
Experience teaching multiple subjects within SCM
Experience with online delivery.
Preferred attributes for the ideal candidate would include teaching experience in logistics, operations planning and/or forecasting courses, though other related courses may also be of interest.
Other highly desirable qualifications include a demonstrated ability to engage, inform, motivate and develop teams; the demonstrated ability to build connections with students and external university partners; an understanding of business school research and programming; and the ability to work in a team-based, client-centered, fast-paced, and innovative setting.
