The Systems/Dataset Administrator supports two discrete and complementary sets of activitiesâ”dataset support and infrastructure computing systems support for a large, complex health care research center in the School of Public Health. Â Dataset support involves lifecycle support of core datasets used in multiple research projects by research teams in the Center.Â Infrastructure computing systems support involves software and hardware support of core systems which house and process data. Such data include health care utilization, functional assessments, and related, diverse data sets.Â
Responsibilities will include the installation, deployment, maintenance, and termination of all hardware, operating systems, server products, and application software on all servers and infrastructure systems used by the Center, as directed and required. This includes deployment and maintenance of clustering and other high availability technologies, support of Windows and other operating systems as may be deployed, operational security implementation, storage management, and the support of application systems.Â
The position is a direct report to the Centerâ™s IT Director, who designs, develops, and deploys all such processes and systems.Â
Education and Experience
Bachelorâ™s degree, or equivalent education and experience
Â 3-5 years of IT experience including managing
Experience with office support software: MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite
Experience with statistical and analytic software: SAS
Experience supporting a production computing environment consisting of a Windows Active Directory deployment on vSphere servers managed by a vCenter server
Experience with health care data analysis
Database administration experience with deploying/backup/recovering infrastructure, as well as building and maintaining data structures
Virtual machine configuration and management experienceÂ
Experience with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise technology, Proliant servers, MSA-series arrays, and MSL-series libraries.
Experience with Windows failover and clustering technologies, vCenter, and Windows and VMWare monitoring
Experience with IIS website development and support
Experience with statistical and analytic software: Stata, SPSS, ArcGIS, R, Python
Experience with computing technologies: Enterprise servers, tape libraries, external raid controllers, networking hardware, and computer security.
Demonstrated competence in SAS programming to support large and complex analytic projects; demonstrated skill with systems scripting languages, e.g. PowerShell
Network and system security knowledge
Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
Self-motivating, professional, flexible, comfortable with ambiguity in a diverse organizational environment
Effective problem solver, trouble shooter
Ability to handle and balance multiple and competing demands and deadlines

A deep understanding of the storage infrastructure, virtualization layer, Windows Forest architecture, security model, and analytic file support model is required to effectively maintain and support it.Â
