Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System with a Fredericksburg Area Campus in Spotsylvania, a Locust Grove Campus, and several off-campus centers. Germanna is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Financial Aid Advisor to provide direct assistance and support services to staff and students in the conduct of agency business related to the financial aid unit of the two campuses and two of the centers of the college. The primary responsibilities of this position include assisting students and families with financial aid options and processing federal, state and institutional financial aid applications and files in accordance with federal, state and college regulations. Major Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Ability to work independently and with sensitive information. 2. Ability to explain complicated, detailed information to students and families in an easy to understand method. 3. Working knowledge of the agencyâ™s policies and operations. 4. Considerable knowledge in the administration of federal, state and institutional aid programs. 5. Considerable skill in the use of automated systems in the processing of all financial aid data. 6. Ability to understand complex government regulations and provide information to potential students, co-workers and college administrators. 7. Considerable skill in the use of software applications used in the processing of student financial aid and supporting office functions. 8.
