Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations, Heart Institute and working closely as a member of the management team, facilitates the integration, management, and data needs for the Heart Institute. Takes a leadership role, working with the physicians, supervisory, and non-supervisory staff to develop information tracking systems, preparing and displaying data concerning operations, improvement initiatives, and system changes. Monitors departmental charge masters, billing, budget and variance reports, providing recommendations for improvement, simplification, compliance, etc. Prepares and evaluates current financial and supply/inventory practice, charge audits and statistical analysis of procedure costs and procedural utilization. Works with coders and financial resources to ensure accurate billing, rapid turn-around, and tracking of volumes, expenses, etc. Prepares financial analyses for new programs in the Heart Institute and identification and prioritization of capital needs.
Duties of aHeart Institute Business Managermay include the following but are not limited to:
Responsible for all departmental supply functions for Cath Lab, EP and Non-Invasive Cardiology. This includes monitoring Qsight and SPC reports tracking utilization, cost containment and savings opportunities. Oversight of supply chain functions, identifying savings opportunities and coordinates with Heart Institute inventory personnel, purchasing and clinical teams to implement. Makes recommendations for new products as needed, leads contract negotiations, and identifies savings based on potential vendor consolidation and physician/surgeon preference reviews.
Responsible for the preparation of the departmental budget, including personnel, supplies and equipment. Responsible for ongoing review of budgets during fiscal year including explanation of variances. Tracks vacancies and creates staffing matrixes for discussion and submission of new position requests. Monitors spend as it relates to cost per case by service. Responsible for compiling and submitting capital needs including 5 year plan. Reviews inventory for appropriate par levels and to avoid excess spend.
Responsible for monitoring the results of Benchmarking studies, recommends areas for improvement and aids in the planning, implementation and follow-up. Submits data requests as needed. Monitors efficiency and operational data including SPC data for procedural room utilization, turnover, efficiency and supply cost per procedure.
Oversight of revenue cycle/ charge capture functions for the Heart Institute and monitors based on monthly implant/supply charges and CDM maintenance requests. Review charge master and update as needed based on true cost of supplies. Identifies issues with timely charge capture and works with revenue cycle, IT and others as needed to resolve.
Minimum of a BA/BS degree in Business, Healthcare or related field
Minimum 3 years business management experience in a Healthcare setting
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience
Excellent communication, organizational, presentational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and with a team.
Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint skills.
Strong data analytical skills
Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare management.
Business management experience in a cardiovascular service line within a healthcare setting
