The Accounting Specialist will provide strategic support to the Business Office and collaborative support to Financial Aid and students. This position will be the expert in managing the financial section of the College’s enterprise system, will have an elite understanding of the grant and financial support that is provided to students at WSCC, and maintain accounts receivable functions. 

The Accounting Specialist shall be directly responsible to the Chief Financial Officer and shall maintain a positive customer service orientation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Manage enterprise system modules for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Manage/maintain student records to ensure accurate billing and payment by either the student, financial aid, or other means
• Maintain all funding sources; Federal, State, Local, personal, relative to the student environment.
• Collaborate with Financial Aid to ensure the familial understanding of all financial aid entitled to students.
• Process refund checks each semester as necessary.
• Plan and prepare for future growth and innovation; prepare and submit proposals for enhancements of services based on objective need analysis and use projections.
• Maintain a positive attitude, effective communication and a collaborative style with students, faculty, administration, staff and patrons.
• Manage/maintain the balance sheet subledgers and other balance sheet accounts as assigned by the CFO.
• Assist CFO with monthly close process/procedures.
• Assist with data collection relative to annual reporting requirements including but not exclusive to capital acquisitions, annual audits, grant requirements, and tax filings.
• Provide guidance to the Business Office in the CFO’s absence.
• Consider a strong inclusion in the college campus experience.
• Ensure continued updating of accounting knowledge via professional development.
