This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.  

This position is in the Department of Pathology & Immunology, Division of Immunobiology.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting with the technical aspects in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher-level technician.  Assists with mouse models, cell culture, and cell-based assays. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, collection of samples, cell isolation, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
2. Assists with mouse colony maintenance and genotyping. Performs record keeping using unique software.
3. Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
4. Assists with general lab maintenance (preparing reagents, tissue cultures, etc.) and cleaning.

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

• Bachelor's degree.
• Prior experience in animal husbandry and colony management.
• Comfortable working with computer software and knowledge of general lab equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.

The hiring range for this position is $13.80 - $15.97 per hour.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards.  The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

This position is grade R04.
