Energy & Facilities (E&F) operates and manages Harvard's energy supplies, district energy plants, and utility infrastructures on the Cambridge/Allston campuses, as well as a 24/7 facilities-related call, alarm monitoring, and dispatch center. E&F also provides a broad portfolio of labor-based services, including primary building maintenance, landscape, fire safety, custodial, and event support services to a large portion of the University, as well as engineering, technical, and sustainability services. All services are provided in strict accordance with regulatory requirements and customer-determined standards, with cost recovery almost exclusively through a fee-for-service model. E&F provides services through three operating departments, Engineering & Utilities (E&U), Facilities Maintenance Operations (FMO), and Green Building Services (GBS). This position provides analytical, business modeling, business process, and project management support to the Energy & Facilities organization across all three of its operating departments.
Provides analytical, business modeling, business process, and project management support to E&F across all operational areas and on tasks as directed and assigned.
Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of all E&F business models and the associated business drivers and considerations that influence them. Leads E&F's business model refinement/development, documentation, maintenance, etc. Documents all business models and maintains them in an organized, standardized, secure, up to date, and controlled manner. Works closely with Managing Director and senior leadership team to ensure model approach, strategy, inputs, and functionality meet business needs. Performs analyses, presents results, provides recommendations and other support functions as needed.
Leads E&F's systematic development, refinement, maintenance, reporting, and analysis of key performance indicators across all business activities (including financial, workforce management, capital projects, asset and work management, etc.). Collaborates with E&F leadership to operationalize use of data to identify anomalies, better inform business decision-making, enable greater efficiency and productivity, and optimize use of resources.
Collaborates with E&F staff and partner groups including CS Finance & Administration, Human Resources, and Information Technology to understand systems, data, and reporting that can be leveraged for use in E&F's KPI monitoring and operational analysis/reporting. Ensures coordination between E&F business models and budgets; performs analyses, presents results and recommendations in support of ongoing budgeting and financial reporting activities.
Develops and maintains an in-depth understanding of all E&F business activities and the associated operational analysis activities that support them. Documents all operational analysis activities/processes and maintains them in an organized, standardized, up to date, and accessible manner.
Works to support the efficient running of the businesses within E&F, working in close collaboration with the Managing Director and the senior leadership team to ensure clarity of priorities and objectives.
Drives high-engagement collaborative work with others within E&F and across Campus Services, both individually and in teams. Acts as E&F's representative on committees, work groups, cross-functional teams as assigned (e.g. knowledge sharing and innovation; key performance indicators, etc.).
Partners with others across E&F, Campus Services, and the University community at large to achieve optimal delivery of E&F services and efficient use of resources. Demonstrates and promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization; providing stewardship, strategies, and services that create an excellent customer experience. Always acts in the University's best interest.
Communicates and interacts regularly with E&F and Campus Services personnel to respond to information requests and assist in on-going service and support improvement efforts. Prepares regular and ad hoc reports, conducts analyses, prepares presentation materials, provides findings and recommendations, identifies issues and potential resolutions as requested.
Leads, performs, and/or provides support for special projects (short and long-range), initiatives, related duties, and tasks as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or technical discipline or equivalent experience;
7+ years' experience in the following: operations/business analysis, business process, financial modeling, and information flow in a service organization; demonstrated use of data analysis and metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
Experience in collaborative approaches in a matrix-managed environment, and across multiple and diverse groups; practical problem solving and strategic thinking skills; critical thinking and excellent analytical and organizational skills ensuring attention to detail and accuracy.
Demonstrated advanced skills in functional business process analysis and business process development, data analysis, collecting and synthesizing data, project planning and execution; business modelling, communications, and managing interpersonal relationships. Must be able to develop and maintain a complete understanding of the business issues and processes surrounding the department and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to work both collaboratively and independently, managing projects and staff, with a track record of success in a customer service organization. Must be flexible, self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and presentation skills; be able to multitask and think and work well independently and as a member of a team; have sound judgment skills and possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to mission.
Must be an effective problem-solver with attention to detail and be able to interact effectively in a highly political and decentralized academic environment, have the ability to communicate effectively and articulately in both spoken and written communication with a diverse constituency, and have demonstrated experience in successfully and effectively developing collaborative relationships and partnerships, and capacity for managing multiple tasks/priorities on deadline in a fast-paced, continually adapting work environment.
Technology Skills Required:
Must be highly proficient in the use of computers, including data analysis tools/software as well as Microsoft Office software suite, email, and Internet applications. Ability to learn and quickly become highly proficient with new systems and software is essential.
Experience with asset and work management systems preferred.
