Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a Temporary Accounting and Payroll Coordinator. The incumbent serves as back up for processing the College’s three payrolls and all related activities including compliance with tax filing and reporting.

Primary responsibilities include:
Serves as backup for all tasks to prepare timely and accurate completion of the College’s three payrolls and all related payroll activities.
Maintains an accurate accounting of payments by making various journal entries related to payroll processing and reviews payroll output for accuracy.
Transmits weekly H.S.A. advances as well as quarterly H.S.A. deposits.
Responsible for processing timely and accurate payroll related tax activities, wage garnishments, unemployment insurance correspondences, employment verifications, and month end payroll deduction reports.
Assists Accounting Manager with external auditor requests and year-end tax forms. Also assists with submission of Quarterly Sales Tax submissions, various account reconciliations, the overseeing of grant account activity and various other duties as assigned.
Performs work in compliance with all local, state and federal wage laws.
• Associate degree preferred. •Previous payroll processing experience preferred. •A combination of education and past relevant experience may be considered.
