The Biochemistry Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 3.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The focus of this position is to develop an antibody discovery program in the Veesler lab. Monoclonal antibodies will be cloned after flow-cytometry sorting of memory B cells or plasma cells resulting from either vaccination of mice, non-human primates and humans with a COVID-19 vaccine developed in the Veesler lab or from samples derived from animals and humans infected with other pathogens (e.g. Nipah virus). The resulting monoclonal antibodies will be characterized by ELISA, biolayer interferometry, and neutralization assays to validate their specificities and properties. Work will be done both independently and as a team with other lab members including grad students, post-docs, and research scientists, while providing technical assistance with ongoing projects. This position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative translational research. Analysis of data to help determining the research strategy, interactions with collaborators with out network and writing manuscript for publication. Writing papers, help with grant preparation, project design.
REQUIREMENTS: •Ph.D. in Immunology or related field + 3 years of more years of experience in related field. •A strong track record in antibody discovery is required for this position. •The candidate should have excellent time management skills, be meticulous and organized, be proactive, self-motivated, be able to keep records of all work completed, able to communicate well and work with others.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
