Project Manager-Center for High Content Functional Annotation of Natural Products (Open unitil filled. Apply by 3/20/21)
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for a project manager for The Center for High Content Functional Annotation of Natural Products. Under the direction of Professor John MacMillan, PhD., the project manager will design and carry out gene expression experiments to elucidate the mechanism of action of small molecules, build natural product compound libraries for screening in relevant high content assays, perform quality control work on all chemicals and reagents relevant to the Center for High Content Functional Annotation of Natural Products (HiFAN), maintain the integration of data from all members of the HiFAN team, and supervise the data analysis.
Applicants with expertise in any or all of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: high-throughput screening of natural products using high complexity assays; development of bioassays and experience with high-throughput robotics; development of small molecule-protein interaction assays; plant biochemistry; experience with managing interdisciplinary research programs and/or data management.
ACADEMIC TITLE Associate Project Scientist
SALARY Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS PH.D (or an equivalent foreign degree) in biochemistry or molecular biology at the time of application and a minimum of two years' research experience as a postdoctoral scholar/scientist.

DURATION OF POSITION Initial appointment will be full time for one year. Reappointment may be considered contingent upon the availability of work and appropriate funding.
