Surgical Assistants directly assists the primary surgeon during the operative procedure. As defined by the American College of Surgeons, the Surgical First Assistant provides aid in exposure, homeostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. This role will vary considerably with the surgical operation, specialty area, and type of facility.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail; exceptional planning and organizational skill; effective written and verbal communication skills; basic computer skills; and knowledge of vendor equipment.

CAAHEP accredited program certificate or Associate’s Degree – Surgical Assistant program
Required Related Experience:
Required License/Registration/Certification :
Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certified by the KY Medical Board of Licensure or eligible, or Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA) certified by the KY Medical Board of Licensure or eligible
Previous experience in an OR setting; surgical technician or RN experience highly preferred for this position.
