Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is currently seeking a highly motivated Head Clerk for the Office for Clinical Affairs.
The Head Clerk provides support to students and faculty in the RSDM patient care clinics. Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Head Clerk assists in the day-to-day clinical operations of the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine dispensaries. Maintains inventory and dispenses dental materials to students and faculty. Performs work related to the care, sterilization, packing, and disbursement of equipment and supplies.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:
Issues equipment, instruments and supplies to students and faculty. Performs duties relating to clinic dispensary as assigned.
Develops and maintains inventory of supplies, loaned instruments and equipment. Re-stocks equipment and supplies in the dispensary and clinic, reporting depleted items.
Prepares orders for supervisory approval and maintains an appropriate amount of supplies and materials weekly to ensure a smooth flow for clinic operations.
Prepares purchase requisitions for clinic instruments and supplies. Serves as liaison with the Dental Store.
Checks returned instruments and prepares them for sterilization. Delivers to and retrieves instruments from Central Sterilization.
Contacts maintenance personnel regarding defective instruments or equipment and monitors repairs.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Three (3) years of experience in a dental setting with a combination of dental assisting and sterile processing.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of dental terminology, decontamination, sterilization, assembly, packing and monitoring of instrumentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize assigned work.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must have the ability to lift/push/pull greater than 50 pounds.
