The Department of Physical Therapy at Central Michigan University invites applications for two tenure-track, 9-month faculty positions in our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. Preference will be given to applicants who can provide instruction in one or more of the following areas: Anatomy, Biomechanics, Cardiopulmonary, General Foundational Interventions, Manual Therapy, Manual Therapy, and Musculoskeletal Examination and Interventions. Individuals with other areas of expertise are encouraged to apply. Anticipated start date will be August 23, 2021 but is negotiable. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Summer teaching opportunities are available. An attractive benefits package is available and research start-up funds may be available based on candidate's research agenda and needs. Successful applicants will demonstrate initiative, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate.The prospective faculty member will have access to a motion analysis facility equipped with a 12-camera Vicon motion capture system, 3 AMTI force plates, several EMG systems, NeuroCom Balance Master, diagnostic ultrasound, and virtual reality equipment. The faculty member will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with faculty in other disciplines. The Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy was expanded to a second location on the Campus of Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan in the Fall of 2014. Both faculty positions will be located at the Mount Pleasant campus, but prospective faculty members will be expected to use technology to provide synchronous learning to all students within the program.
Terminal academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc in Physical Therapy or equivalent fields); doctoral candidates (ABD) will be considered. Must be eligible for Michigan Physical Therapist licensure. Applicants at the Assistant Professor rank must show the potential for future successful teaching and research; Applicants at the Associate Professor or Professor rank must demonstrate recent successful teaching and research experience.Responsibilities:- Teach doctoral-level physical therapy courses in area of expertise.- Contribute to scholarship within the Physical Therapy Program in area of expertise.- Academic and research advising for doctoral students.- Maintain a standard of excellence in teaching, research, and service as outlined by the CMU Faculty Agreement and the Department of Physical Therapy Bylaws.- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
