Processes, distributes and provides quality assurance for all patient specimens. Supplies accurate information to providers and other clinical staff regarding laboratory testing, test requirements and patient results.
Dana-Farber Cancer Institute has opened a new outpatient cancer facility in Chestnut Hill. The new ambulatory center, locatedÂ at 300 Boylston Street, Chestnut Hill, will provide much needed space for adult patient care to support our patient growth. Dana-Farber - Chestnut Hill will offer Clinical and Research Laboratory Services, Clinical Trials, Imaging, Infusion Services, Nutrition Support, Retail Pharmacy, Social Work, and Transfusion Services. This will be a multi-disciplinary, state-of-the-art facility designed to maintain the same model of care that is currently given to our patients on our Longwood Campus.
Receives patient specimens from within the Institute and outside Institutions. Performs various quality checks to ensure all requests are accurate before dispensing the specimens to the appropriate performing lab, maintaining accuracy and efficiency to ensure patient care isn't compromised.
Contacts the clinic or provider on any discrepancies with test orders upon receipt in Lab Control.
Processes specimens via centrifugation, aliquoting, storing and shipping per send-out requirements.
Compiles daily reports of all send-out testing. Compares all orders from the DFCI Lab Computer System and requisitions with test orders provided by the various reference labs. Corrects any order discrepancies by contacting the reference lab.
Assists providers, nurses and other caregivers with lab test, test requirement and result inquiries.
Researches test and collection information, normal values, result turn-around time and locating reference lab which provide testing.
Reviews and acknowledges reference lab results and forwards to the provider and Medical Records. Manually enters results from the reference labs into the DFCI Lab Computer System.
Verifies test charges from the reference lab invoices.
BS preferred, High School Diploma required
Two years experience in a healthcare or laboratory setting required
