UW Continuum College has an outstanding opportunity for a Human Resource Assistant, Senior to support 200+ professional and classified staff, student workers, and temporary employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES Human Resources
Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding functional knowledge of Human Resources guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Manage HR Inbox, as the main point of contact with all employees.
Plan and lead the UWC² employee recognition program and events, including purchasing gifts and supplies.
Process and track Professional Development requests.
Initiate background checks, with a slight uptick in requests during summer months.
I-9 processing, and tracking duties; both in person and in Workday
Create and send offer, and appointment, letters electronically
Facilitate Onboarding, Meet & Greet, and UWC² Orientations
Establish and maintain personnel files; Uphold HR file retention and documentation systems.
Lead digital organization of files on SharePoint, from drives (under the guidance of HRM), ensuring all job descriptions are on file for employees and represent their current duties
Facilitate initial Leaves conversations with all employees as requested
Train Hiring Managers, and hiring committees, on the UWHires system to enable a seamless and equitable recruiting process. Provide hiring guidance during intake meetings with Hiring Managers. Ensure positions are filled promptly, and that job descriptions capture our mission, vision, and values.
Offer guidance to UWC² hiring managers regarding job openings and the recruitment process; this includes partnering with campus HR Operations, UW Integrated Service Center (ISC), and the UW Compensation Office on specifications, definitions, and exemptions
Lead new hiring processes, including DEI initiatives, redacted resume review, timely dispositioning of candidates, managing the Workbench providing Hiring Managers access as necessary
Additional projects as requested: DEI, organization, documentation, change management.
Encourage open communication, and employee engagement, by taking an active role in weekly organization meetings, DEI committees, and Employee Engagement team.
In partnership with the HR Manager, set and roll out internal UWC2 guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Lead a fantastic candidate experience; this includes updates on application status and responding to questions/concerns. Remaining in contact with candidates and hiring managers throughout the hiring process
Schedule interviews, make travel arrangements, and participate in interview panels as requested by hiring managers; this includes providing guidance and insight regarding equitable and fair hiring practices
Maintain and regularly update communication templates, multiple tracking documents and systems, the HR wiki page, and UWC² organizational charts.
Share updates from the larger UW, on changes as we are notified, from the HR Inbox.
Utilize Workday and UWHires to equitably process UWC² job requests, focusing on accuracy and timeliness; including but not limited to tracking jobs via UWHires from application to hire
Assist in the preparation, posting, and distribution of job advertisements for various positions, both on Workday, external job boards, and affinity groups.
Assist with diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Recommend changes in procedures to facilitate effectiveness. Create clear communications, in this regard, for all of UWC2.
Lead Hiring & Retention DEI subcommittee
Provide administrative support to the Vice Provost Office, Assistant Vice Provost, and Human Resources Manager
Act as backup to the Executive Assistant to the Vice Provost
Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS Minimum Qualifications: Four years of office experience including two years of increasingly responsible experience in a human resource or related setting OR equivalent education/experience.
Prior work history that involves implementing and improving human resources policies
Expert MS Office skills
Change Management experience
Ability to successfully manage competing priorities and deadlines
Excellent customer service and collaboration skills
Attention to detail
Professional written and oral communications skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Psychology, Sociology or related field – or equivalent experience.
Human Resources certification or coursework
Professional Higher Education experience
Resilient, self-starter who can adapt to the changing needs of the organization.
Ability to thrive in ambiguity
Knowledge of UW Human Resource policies and procedures
Experience with UWHires.
Project Management experience
