1. Receives and independently investigates inquiries and complaints of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and unfair treatment from applicants, students and employees.2. Acts as a mediator in the attempt to resolve alleged violations of Federal and State laws as well as allegations of other unfair treatment.3. Assists supervisors in identifying, resolving, and preventing equal employment opportunity/affirmative action problems; promotes a favorable climate for an effective equal employment opportunity program.4. Interprets equal employment opportunity requirements of Federal and State agencies; evaluates these requirements in relation to specific departments and/or programs; works with Human Resource Generalists, Departmental supervisors, Labor Management Relations to determine corrective or remedial action as needed.5. Independently provide coordination, oversight and implementation of the Employment Accommodation Program for faculty and staff.6. Works collaboratively with faculty, supervisors, Labor Management Relations, and Labor unions in resolving issues.7. Develops, designs, and delivers seminars in the areas of: Affirmative Action, Sexual Harassment, Respectful Environments, disability accommodation, etc.8. Work collaboratively with the Director and, as appropriate, take a lead and/or supervisory role on special projects and events.9. Independently review, analyze, and approve selected staff searches for AA/EO compliance purposes. 10. In collaboration with the Director provide oversight of the faculty search process.11. Develop, design, analyze data and develop reports in collaboration with Human Resources and other University departments/offices for AA/EO purposes.12. Participate on departmental and other committees focused on such topics as AA/EO compliance and staff diversity recruitment and retention.13. Leads research of AA/EO, diversity and related topics, as requested14. Maintain thorough and up-to-date knowledge of AA/EO laws and regulations and relevant University policies.15. Represent the Office to constituencies on and off campus.16. Participate in the update and audit of the University's affirmative action plans and programs, as well as in the implementation of these plans and programs. 17. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
