Working under direction from the Deputy Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director (AD) of Customer Service and Engagement will assist with the oversight of customer service to include the web within the Financial Aid Office to include supervising (4) AFSCME staff members who comprise the customer service team. The AD performs a wide variety of tasks and projects supporting the Academic Success Program for financial aid, the Promise Program (homeless and foster youth program), financial literacy program, and all forms of financial communication and outreach. The AD must be knowledgeable of and abide by all the laws, rules, regulations, and guidelines for each of the financial aid programs as set forth by the university, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the federal government, and all other private and public funding sources.
DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED:
Manage federal work study program and support the completion of the annual FISAP report.
Identify ACT 101 student eligibility during the admissions review, coordinate outreach and targeted information sessions for parents, packaging incoming students for the summer term.
Act as the single point of contact for the WCU Promise Program.
Stay abreast on all federal guidelines as they pertain to the eligibility of youth and provision of services for the McKinney-Vento Homeless Program.
Supervise the WCU Financial Literacy Ambassadors and coordinate on-campus programming including FAFSA filing events.
Create and maintain the financial literacy page of the website. coordinate partnership with PSECU on campus to support financial awareness to all students.
Coordinate and assign customer service staff responsibilities; monitor performance, and provide feedback and development opportunities.
Provide counseling on the financial aid process to both prospective and current students.
Perform outreach activities such as financial aid presentations for college fairs, local high schools, and civic organizations.
Coordinate external communications from the department, which includes all digital (email, website, social media, and text) and printed media.
Assist with completing verification of FAFSA data and file review within Campus Logic imaging application for selected students.
Repackage aid as necessary based on completion of the FAFSA verification.
Exercise Professional judgment in reviewing, processing, and approving or denying requests for exceptions to federal and institutional eligibility rules and regulations including reduced income and dependency override requests.
A minimum of two years of working in financial aid or related higher education experience.
Experience with financial aid systems including People Soft, COD, NSLDS, and FAA
Working with Title IV Federal Work Study
Customer Service/Financial Aid Counseling Experience (working with diverse populations/possess excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills)
Knowledge of financial aid verification (federal, state, institutional guidelines/regulations);
Evidence of strong organizational and communication skills.
