This position manages an automotive/construction equipment maintenance facility that is responsible to maintain and repair TCC fleet vehicles, trucks, garden tractors, lifting equipment, generators, and small engine units. Performs state vehicle inspections, and maintains monthly and quarterly inspection sticker records for state police. This position has been designated an essential position. The employee filling this position may be required to report to work or otherwise fulfill the responsibilities of the position in the event of a college/campus closure due to weather or other emergent condition(s).
Knowledge of the diagnosis and repair of automotive and maintenance equipment.
Basic knowledge of inventory control, procurement and ability to maintain accurate reports.
Ability to operate all equipment of the college.
Ability to read and follow instructions in repair manuals.
Skills necessary to use tools common to automotive shop, to include gas and arc welding equipment.
Basic skill in the use of computers, email, and internet.
Knowledge of Virginia state inspection policies and procedures.
State Vehicle Inspectors License or ability to obtain a Virginia State Police State Equipment Inspection License within 6 months of employment.
Formal training in vehicle or small engine repair.
Valid driver's license.
Air Conditioning Recovery Certification.
