Reporting to the Director of Video Production, the incumbent serves as videographer for the University and as a post-production editor to create high-quality video and Web content that spotlights the University's activities. The videographer is responsible for operating video cameras, production, and lighting equipment.
The incumbent supports the coordination of video and audio productions that promote the University's key initiatives. Administrative responsibilities include supporting the maintenance of archives and records reflecting operational activities, costs of services, and inventory of productions.
The videographer works closely with colleagues to promote and adhere to uniform branded elements in order to reinforce consistent tonality and achieve production efficiencies.
Edits video, graphics, and photo content using Final Cut Pro X and /or Adobe Creative Suite software
Produces video content & supports every facet of video production
Writes/edits/creates graphic slates within videos
Produces and/or pulls clips from video database
Sources, curates, creates, edits, and manages all written and visual content for video publishing on social platforms
Works remotely and independently on production as needed
Archives content using workflow protocols
Posts video transcriptions on the web
Collaborates on multi-camera recordings and live-streaming projects
Interacts with clients and subjects directly or via written or interpersonal communication
Maintains a current understanding of the updates on digital landscape of live-streaming and video recording
Utilizes discretion and good judgment in representing the company while interfacing with clients, talent, crew members, and the broader community
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience. Minimum 2 years' experience working in film/video production.
The ability to edit and capture high-quality video with HDSLR and professional video cameras.
Proficiency in a range of video-related software, including but not limited to, Final Cut Pro, Motion, Compressor, Premiere, After Effects, Pro Tools, and Photoshop.
Understanding of basic HTML.
Advanced knowledge of web video distribution for social media platforms.
Ability to write and edit descriptions and on-screen captions for video content.
Advanced experience with distributing web video across social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
Must be team-oriented and have experience working in mission- or research-driven institutions, such as higher-education, foundations, hospitals, or museums.
Comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment within a small practice group setting.
Strong communication and organization skills, including research, writing, fact-checking, and proofreading skills, as well as attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate effectively as a team member.
Must be able to build video graphics.
Must be able to lift and carry 30 lbs.
Self-motivated and work effectively under deadline pressure while coordinating multiple tasks
Current and historical knowledge (and interest) in New York City and Upper Manhattan neighborhood is a plus
Must be willing to learn how to operate and maintain company video/audio equipment and open to the possibility of working nights and weekends on occasion.
