Under the direction of Maternal Fetal Medicine Director of Ultrasound, Division Administrator and Senior Operations Manager, this position will oversee all sonographers related to W51st, 1790 and HIP4 practices, as well as assist with ultrasound operations for the MFM Division. This position is a leadership role and must be able to handle patient concerns and HR issues in a professional manner.
The ultrasound supervisor will oversee the daily ultrasound work flow at W51st, 1790 and HIP4 locations to include, approval of same-day add-ons and assignment; and distribution of work among sonographers. The supervisor will provide coverage and staffing related ultrasound support for offsite practices including the Westchester, Rockland and Putnam locations.
This position will need the ability to work under pressure, undertake multiple tasks as required, possess strong management/organizational skills, and ability to interact with all levels of staff. Additionally, the ultrasound supervisor will participate with review and revision of MFM ultrasound policies and procedures. Attend and participate in Ultrasound Practice Committee and Management meetings, assist with completion of AIUM accreditation application and perform other duties as assigned.
Coordinate Sonographer schedules
Re-deploy staff as needed to cover unplanned absences;
Cover staff shortages at other locations as needed; Perform ultrasound and ultrasound-guided procedures to meet the needs of the unit
Manage daily ultrasound schedules in EMR to ensure unit is booked appropriately;
Resolve technical problems with ultrasound equipment and maintain machine service logs.
Manage ultrasound machines and maintain contracts which includes monitoring lease end dates, executing new leases, being the liaison for the division and ultrasound vendors, and collaborate with other site managers and finance department.
Monitor daily ultrasounds performed and ensure all OBserver reports are signed/finalized and images transferred;
Train and orient new ultrasound sonographers;
Train current staff on new and/or specialized procedures;
Work with supervisors/managers at other sites to ensure the consistent implementation of ultrasound guidelines, administrative procedures and maintenance of quality standards across all sites;
Collaborate with other locations to build volume across sites and ensure appropriate sonography coverage
performing all necessary human resource functions such as hiring, training, supervising, disciplinary actions and performance appraisals etc
Work directly with auth, coding and billing team as it relates to ultrasound
Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience
Possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented
Excellent verbal/written communication and strong observation and listening skills
Ability to interact effectively and efficiently with patients and co-workers
High level of professionalism and maturity, and the ability to work independently
Computer proficiency with the ability to quickly learn new applications
A working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations is preferred
