Graduate Education at Harvard Medical School supports and trains students in 8 master's programs and – in conjunction with the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences - 14 life sciences doctoral programs. These 14 doctoral programs are collectively known as Harvard Integrated Life Sciences (HILS). We are seeking a Graduate Education Research Analyst who will be a key contributor and collaborate with other team members, to help realize the goal of efficiently collecting data on student training and outcomes and disseminating data to students, faculty, and staff.
The Graduate Education Research Analyst is a new position that will report to the Director of Student Development and Training Evaluation, based in Graduate Education at Harvard Medical School. In this role, the Analyst will support the work of the Director in collecting and analyzing data to measure the effectiveness of student development, with a special emphasis on professional development, and reporting these results in service of life sciences graduate programs and externally funded training grants. The ideal candidate will have experience with multiple steps in the data lifecycle, including data acquisition, cleaning, and processing, data analysis, and visualization. The Analyst will collaborate in survey design, data collection, data processing (using both quantitative and qualitative approaches), the generation of reports, presentations, and online data-sharing tools.
Collect and process results of student surveys, including annual surveys of enrolled graduate students and exit surveys; generate reports disseminating the results of these surveys for faculty, staff, and students
Conduct focus groups and interviews to collect data or to refine survey instruments
Produce descriptive and inferential analyses
Develop reports in response to data needs for training grants and graduate programs, as needed, and in consultation with the Director and faculty (program directors and training grant directors)
Create online dashboards, using Tableau (or other software), to dynamically display data
Provide feedback, where appropriate, on the development of instruments, including survey questions
Maintain calendar of internal data collection efforts, including surveys, and collaborate with Director of Student Development and Training Evaluation in streamlining and standardizing data collection on student training and in automating data and business processes
Presenting to audiences including Harvard faculty, staff, and students

This is a term appointment, with an end date of 6/30/2022, with the possibility of renewal contingent on funding.
Bachelor's Degree plus 3+ years related work experience is required
Candidates will be asked to submit a sample of their work.
Experience in educational research and evaluation Master's Degree Preferred
Experience using standard data collection/survey software (e.g. Qualtrics)
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
Demonstrated proficiency in accessing, cleaning, and joining data from diverse sources (structured and unstructured formats) using Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
Experience utilizing data analysis software for quantitative data analysis (e.g. Python, R) and either experience using or an interest in learning software for qualitative data analysis (e.g. Dedoose)
Ability and/or interest in learning data visualization in Tableau
Ability and/or interest in learning database software (e.g. Microsoft Access)
Ability and/or interest in experience management platforms (e.g. BLUE)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with agility in learning
Exercise the highest standards of confidentiality working with sensitive data
Self-motivated, with high standards for rigorous and detailed work
High level of independence, judgement and technical skills
