Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Under the direct supervision within the Cooper Medical School at Rowan University (CMSRU) Vivarium, assists with the work involved in maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment; performs related work as required.
Examples of Work:
Washes, sterilizes, stores, and prepares for the shipment and distribution of vials, bottles and other containers used by the laboratories.
May take operation of a sterilizing room.
Inspects bottles, vials, and other containers for cleanliness, and checks on the proper use of cleaning solutions.
Stores and seals delicate sterilizing laboratory equipment.
May oversee the care of animal cages and equipment.
As directed, operates the autoclave and sees that the sterile product is put in tubes and properly labeled.
Checks supplies of specimen containers and informs the supervisor when additional supplies are needed.
Maintains records of containers, dispatched and received.
Assists in preparing and maintaining charts and other laboratory records.
Maintains essential laboratory records and files.
Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency.
One (1) year of non-technical experience in a laboratory.
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Knowledge of the methods used to maintain laboratory facilities and equipment.
Knowledge of the equipment commonly used in laboratories.
Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to follow prescribed procedures and in the proper ways of cleaning, handling and sterilizing equipment and laboratory materials.
Ability to maintain established records and files.
Ability to keep accurate and precise records.
Range O08 ($30,414 - $34,364)
