The Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) is seeking applications for a fulltime Information Technology Technician 3. This position will report to the EECS IT Specialist II. Primary duties include installation, troubleshooting of IT hardware and software and audio/visual support for departmental, and college events. Must possess the customer services skills and flexibility required to support a complex and dynamic academic and research environment.
Functional Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Oversees new technology installation and maintenance.
Reinstalls desktops and laptops with new versions of operating systems and applications tailored to each user's specific requirements.
Provides on and off-campus audio/visual support for events sponsored by EECS and the college.
Sets up Cisco Webex, Citrix, Zoom and other web/video/audio conferencing technologies independently or in combination.
Coordinates with event staff on scheduling, setup, and support of the event.
Trains on-site presenters in use of technology.
Maintain and assist in classroom technology equipment.
Performs backup of departmental servers and other critical systems.
Proactively monitors operating conditions of all technology and makes life cycle recommendations to the supervisor.
Research of new technologies and innovations to keep current in latest developments in IT technology.
