We are currently seeking a motivated Screening Clinician to work in the Department of Newark Screening – Acute Services Division.
The Screening Clinician will perform psychiatric emergency services, screenings, and screening outreach assessments as well as other mental health services. The Screening Clinician will demonstrate competence in providing generic crisis assessment of individuals of all ages (birth through 65+ years) and devising an appropriate intervention/disposition plan while determining the need for any additional professional consultation.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Serves assigned shifts, providing on-site and outreach screening in an effective and skillful manner.
Provides coordination and on-site interaction with outside/other agencies involved in the screening process.
Provides in-depth clinical assessment for all persons served; involves patient, patient's family and/or significant other in developing a plan for disposition.
Collaborates with medical staff to make the best assessment and provide the highest quality of care.
Explains referral/disposition in a clear and supportive manner.
Maintains appropriate clinical records in a timely manner.
Actively participates in performance improvement initiatives; assists Program Coordinator in daily operations of the department.
Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field; meets all annual requirements.
Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health related field from an accredited institution.
One (1) year post-masters, full-time professional experience in a psychiatric setting.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Valid driver's license for use in driving to off-site work locations.
New Jersey licensure governing the discipline.
As a designated essential employee, expectations include but are not limited to the ability to work off-hour shifts in the 24/7 operation, provide holiday coverage and work alternate weekends.
