The UMD Department of Social Work seeks to add to its pool of temporary instructors available to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level such as Global Issues; Individual, Family & Group Practice; Social Welfare Policy; Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice; Clinical Assessment & Intervention; Introduction to Social Welfare; Research; American Indian Social Work Practice; Trauma Informed Practice; Field; child welfare courses; and others. Full or part-time positions for the 2021-2022 academic year are available. Fall Term is August 23rd, 2021 to January 5th, 2022. Spring Term is January 6th to May 22nd, 2022. Term appointments only. Note: Being a member of the pool does not ensure an appointment will be offered; course offerings, and therefore teaching appointments, vary with demand and are subject to funding.

Required Qualifications:

1) MSW / MA / ME.D. or equivalent from a regionally accredited institution.

2) Commitment to fostering diversity across campus, the social work curriculum, and the social work department.

    
Preferred Qualifications:

1) A Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. 

2) Valid Minnesota social work license or verification of eligibility for licensure by the Minnesota Board of Social Work.

3) Two years post-MSW practice experience (required for practice courses).  

4) Social work practice experience in specific courses assigned to teach.

5) Experience working with students and/or social work clients from diverse backgrounds.

6) Prior experience in working with American Indian people and communities.   

7) Evidence of effective academic classroom teaching or professional training experience.

8) Demonstrated skills related to the development and implementation of on-line courses.

9) Evidence of effective communication skills necessary for a faculty position.
