This position provides an opportunity to play a key part in a lab at the forefront of the field of developmental biology. Working in the state of the art Caltech facility, this technician would be providing support to multiple lab members working on extremely exciting projects. This position would also provide opportunities for the candidate to develop new skills in molecular biology, cell culture and microscopy.
Electroporation/microinjection into embryos at early developmental stages (25%)
Harvest/prepare oocytes and embryos for microinjection (25%)
Preparation of RNA/DNA for microinjection (25%)
Transfer surgery of embryos and tissue collection (25%)
0-2 years of relevant experience
Ability to perform techniques including embryo electroporation, microinjection and transfer surgery.
Experience handling mice.
Experience in general lab maintenance.
Ability to follow step based experimental protocols.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff members, students, faculty and scientists.
Basic molecular biology techniques.
Ability to follow established Safety and Biohazardous Material Guidelines.
