Under the direction of the Dean of Student Development and Enrollment Management, the Student Success Specialist has the responsibility to provide integrative and collaborative approaches to student services while enabling the academic and personal success of each student; assists in the planning, coordination and implementation of support programs and services associates with the college SEM and Strategic plans. 1. Work closely with the college’s early alert and intervention system to help increase the rate of student success and retention. Provides leadership for student intervention programs. Participates in recommending, developing and monitoring systems to provide and track support services to new and continuing students. Work closely with the Office of Institutional Research to compile and organize data for statistical reports related to the early alert system and other activities directed toward increasing student success 2. Support adult students with setting personal goals and connecting desired outcomes with current activities (curricular and extra-curricular), time management skills, prioritizing commitments and meeting deadlines in one-one sessions, workshops or at-a-distance. 3. Assist the Dean of Student Development and Enrollment Management with developing and implementing programs designed to enhance the persistence and retention of adult students. 4. Use a variety of methods and technology to communicate proactively and regularly with students based on identified risk factors including, academic, financial and socio-economic; assisting them in developing individual achievement plans for success. 5. Collaborate with the appropriate administrator/supervisor to be knowledgeable of the variety of student support resources available to students; assist with the development of program and services that support student success.
Minimum of three years experience in student advisement, counseling, admission or registration services at an institution of higher education; community college preferred.
A Master’s Degree in Student Personnel Services, Counseling or Higher Education.
