Primary duties of this position include: -Develop and validate virome panel for Next Generation sequencing -perform QC at various points in the process and implement additional internal QC measures -perform library preparation -develop and optimize in-house library preparation techniques -operate complex sequencing equipment -troubleshoot complex issues arising from a multi-step procedure
Other duties include: -handling and processing various animal specimens -nucleic acid extraction -analyze raw sequence data -conduct scientific literature searches -independent learning of new techniques -provide training to others when needed -general lab/equipment maintenance
Required Qualifications: Advanced degree in molecular biology with at least 1 year relevant training Prior experience optimizing, developing, or validating NGS procedures mainly for virome
