QCC Dental Hygiene Clinic seeks an adjunct (part-time) clinic dentist to collaboratively supervise dental hygiene students in a clinical setting.
Interact with students in a teaching environment by providing instruction to and evaluation of dental hygiene students in the clinical setting.
1.Evaluate student/patient concerns as needed.
2. Conduct patient assessment: 3. Prescribe and review radiographs during the screening process. 4. Work with the Radiology Rotation Instructor during the screening process 5. Administer and/or direct emergency medical and dental care. Examples of areas of responsibility: 6. Provide supervision for dental hygiene faculty and/or students administering local anesthesia. 7. Assist/Consult with the student in the following areas if/as needed:
Taking of alginate impressions
Evaluation of TMJ conditions
Classification of occlusion
Application of chemotherapeutic agents
Gingival and periodontal assessment
Application and evaluation of pit and fissure sealant
8. Provide documentation of care, referrals and consultation provided in the patient record as well as on clinic forms. 9. Authorize radiographs for clinic patients as needed to provide for proper patient assessments and optimum dental hygiene care. 10. Assess all radiographs. 11. Write prescriptions for clinic patients as appropriate for patient needs. (ie: chemotherapeutics, fluoride) 12. Participate in program orientations, curriculum development activities, calibration and information.
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD) degree.
Massachusetts Dental license in good standing with BORID.
Current Health Care Provider, CPR training.
Knowledge of and commitment to follow all state and federal safety guidelines.
Ability to exhibit professional behavior with students, faculty, staff, patients, and co-workers and maintain student and patient confidentiality.
Ability to collaborate with other faculty members and be adaptable and open to new ideas.
Clinical teaching experience in a dental hygiene/dental program preferred.
Experience as a supervising dentist in a teaching environment preferred.
Strong technology skills, including knowledge of Eaglesoft Software.
Minimal summer hours may be necessary.
Starting rate for clinical and/or lab instruction is $60.67 per hour. Positions are MCCC Unit eligible positions. All applicants for these positions must apply online for consideration.
