Uses complete range of professional athletics concepts and strategies for developing and maintaining all aspects of sports programs. Assumes full management of specific aspects of the sports program. Provides guidance to other personnel. The Assistant Coach serves under the direct supervision of the Head Coach. Duties assigned to this position include but are not limited to the following key responsibilities below.
Preferred experience working at a Division I school.
At least one-year experience working as an Assistant Coach.
Bachelor's degree required.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required.
Specialized knowledge of the team sport or activity and demonstrated technical expertise in coaching principles. Current knowledge of applicable rules and standards of the affiliated athletic conference, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) or National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), as well as other associations and agencies to which the campus adheres, and always avoid any and all violations of these rules and standards. Maintain current certification in CPR and First Aid Ability to demonstrate creativity, sound judgment and decision-making, be an effective problem solver and effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Leadership skills to mentor and develop athletes. Strong interpersonal, motivational and team leadership skills to work effectively with athletic participants.
Master's degree in related field preferred.
Special Conditions Required:
Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
